2009 Itinerary
We have been asked by many of our friends to post our plans for 2009, either to meet up with us somewhere en-route or just to know where we are so that they can follow our blog.
Our broad plan for 2009 starts in Baja Mexico, then to San Diego for the wedding of our middle son Chris, moves onto the Cowboy States in the US, then to the western Provinces of Canada, off to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis, down the western coast of Canada, and back to the west coast of the US. The specific timetable is set but will have to change as circumstances dictate, and here are the details so far.
January through March. Caravan from San Diego down the Baja to Cabo San Lucas on January 7th. (takes about 12 to 14 days), tour around the southern Baja gradually making our way north, pick up the caravan around March 21st. and head back to San Diego. Hoping to see the birthing of Whales, dolphins playing in the shallow waters of the bays, and spectacular sunsets sitting by the campfires in the evenings.
April. This month is reserved for the wedding of our son Chris on the 17th. April in San Diego.
May through June. Off to see the National Parks in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. The camera will be clicking constantly at the splendid vistas and natural wonders that the cowboys had as the back-drop to their adventures.
July through September. Up into Canada through Alberta, British Colombia, and The Yukon. The mountains of the Rockies, glaciers, lakes, and wildlife beckon. The camera is ready again.
October. Starts with leaving the Yukon for Alaska. Aiming for Chena Hot Springs to watch the sparkling natural light show known as the Aurora Borealis, and then to Anchorage to board the ferry down the North West Passage to Vancouver Island, Vancouver, and then back into the US at Seattle.
November through December. Down the west coast to linger in the Napa and Sonoma for some spectacular wine tasting before closing 2009 in San Diego or Bermuda for Christmas.
